The proclamation sparked waves of pan-Zarasaist throughout areas in Eastern Vaniua which supported the Balak claim, while also provoking opposition groups who aligned themselves with Komania and supported the Koman claim to the legacy of Ashar. The proclamation also fuelled a religious divide, ultimately culminating in the [schism name], the official split between the Zekalemist and Shawadiist subsects of Eastern Zarasaism.
