Early life

Election of 1980 and banishment
Defeated by Rid
Dismissal from Congress
Vou continued to serve in the Eni Congress after his loss in the 1980 election. However, he, along with his loyalists, caucused in an effort to prevent significant legislation from being passed during Rid's presidency. In 1982, after a bill concerning health and medicinal practices was blocked by Vou and his allies, President Rid used his presidential powers and formally dismissed Vou from Congress.
Banishment
Vou was banished, first from Ridmark then the country as a whole, after members of his party made death threats against President Rid and other members of the ruling party. President Rid made a statement the day of Vou's banishment, saying that "he posed a threat to the republic's democratic institutions and his continued presence would encourage members of congress to obstruct [their] processes." Rid defended this position till his death in 1993.

Controversies
Death of President Rid
Many foreign sources claimed that Vou was behind the untimely death of President Rid. They cite that Vou's position as Prime Minister would allow him to rule without an election, since Rid's party would likely win another term. Vou denied any involvement with Rid's death.
Malas Unity and Freedom Headquarters bombing
In 1997, the Malas Unity and Freedom Headquarters in Ridmark was bombed by unknown assailants. Seven members of the party were killed in the attack. President Vou claimed that opposition forces were behind the attack and were working to remove Vou from power in the 2000 election. As a result, Vou dismissed all members of the opposition and held a snap election, winning a majority in the Eni Congress.
