Cananganamese people accounted for over 90% of the population of Cananganam in the 2018 census, and are officially known in Cananganam as the phurde people to differentiate themselves from the similar Camic peoples. The Cananganamese are one of the largest speaking groups of the Asuranesian languages, boasting a total population of over 90 million people worldwide.
