Mahárenæc (pronunciation: /mahauʁɛnaiç/) is the capital and largest city of Norjihan, with a population of 700,000 within the administrative limits of 100.05km². The urban area extends beyond the administrative area and has a population of 2.8 million, making it by far the largest city in Norjihan. Around 2.9 million people live in the metro area, which accounts for 9.7% of the population of Norjihan. It lies on the Nired River, and is on the Gulf of Ishenar.
Hajenired is a major capital of the Baredan region, and is also a major trade hub, through which trade for the entirity of Bareda travels. The city has built itself upon trade with Ekuosia, as well as on the media, the arts and especially in recent times tourism. It contains the largest container port in the Baredan region, and trade has existed in the city since the 11th century CE. The city is served by Hajenired International Airport and Hajenired International Seaport, and it is linked to the other main cities of Norjihan and to the rest of Bareda by the BURN (Baredan Union Rail Network).
Hajenired enjoys a Mediterranean Climate, with average temperatures 15 °C (59 °F) during the day and 8 °C (46 °F) at night from December to February. The typical summer season lasts about six months, from May to October, although also in April temperatures sometimes reach around 25 °C (77.0 °F).
