History

In approximately 1715, the Bavkïr empire, then ruled by the Żinǡ clan, became involved in policing the Taanttu sea during what is now known as "The Pirate War". Famous Bavkïr pirates such as "The Eagle", "Kyal Incarnate", and "The Spider" engaged in this war. In 1739, the Żinǡ clan's Bavkïr empire collapsed. We have a definitive date on the collapse of the empire because the vassal lords that were appointed by the penultimate emperor each announced their independence within the year, and proceeded to declare war on each other. The new lordships were established in approximately 1703, because the emperor at that time believed "That our vassal lords should be able to be self-sustaining." which effectively meant that they could function as independent nations. The "war" was more or less a stand-off between the many states for a long period of time.

The Bavkïr lords were: The lord of the islands, The Lord of Ṡavïr, The lord of the land of Xef, The lord of Ċilin, and The lord of Ïvo. The Taanttu lords were: The lord of Hayaf, The Lord of Ivo, The lord of Kerȩż, and The Lord of Þentak.

Many of the small islands in the Taanttu sea that were once under control of the old empire were taken after the collective world began to realize that the empire no longer existed. There were many casualties and temporary Bavkïr kings that would announce kingdomship over small parts of land, before being defeated and collapsing again. The civil war between the states would effectively run until the year 1942, when a Pirate lord from the land of Xef began to assert naval superiority over the lordship of the isles, leading to its surrender. The rest of the Bavkïr states quickly fell into line, and joined the pirate king's nation, while the states in what is now known as Taanttu continued their wars. The pirate lord, Sasan "The Conqueror", then announced to the outside world that it could "Screw themselves with their own half-mast". Sasan then closed the country to outsiders, started a pirate navy, and began profiting off of the ekuosian war during its length.

In order to remain detached from the pirates he instituted a policy whereby (1) none of the pirates were allowed to speak at all to the ship they were going to capture (2) No clan sigils could be brought on board in any way (3) The ship could only fly flags from foreign countries or the "Jolly Roger". What also helped the state-run piracy to go on in secret was because to the outside world, The land that was Żinǡ's empire was still filled with infighting states, and did not know that Sasan had united the south.

After the death of Sasan, the mantle of government was passed on to his closest relative, at the time being a man named Sina, who would modernize the nation, reforming the old kingdom into a constitutional monarchy. Sina died, and was replaced by his brother, Januça who died and was replaced by his son, Varig, the current leader of Bavkïrak

Foreign relations

Outside of the Taanttu sea and the nearest area outside of that, Bavkïrak in general does not have strong opinions in either direction. This is because of the civil war and the collapse of the Bavkïr Empire, leading to the successor states becoming more focused on the internal struggles rather than maintaining contact with the outside world.

It is a part of the Taanttu cultural alliance.

While, it maintains Its best relations with Taanttu, Haraku, and Tuanmali, it remains in good standing with many other states in Boroso and on the Taanttu sea.

Religion

The religious beliefs of the Bavkir people can be divided into 3 (or 4) 'separate' religions that are often grouped together as the singular belief of the people. In general the religions all have a respect for nature, and the earliest documented religious communities came together during the golden period to build a large shrine to the gods. This shrine is known as 'Taṡam' or 'The Scar', named so because of the great crater that the shrine is built in. It is believed that this is the site to which the gods came to bring life to a once desolate and barren world. It is illegal and considered highly sinful to take any sort of image of it, or let non-believers see it. Therefore, a picture cannot be provided.

Polytheism: The gods created the universe, and represent the manifestations of phenomena in this realm of the world. The gods have complete control over all things within their power, and are able to meddle with the whims of mortals. The general belief is that the god whom you dedicate your life towards is the one whose realm your soul will depart to once you die. (23% of pop.)

Tamruudism: Tamruud created the universe, and his creation had become corrupted. Those who believe in this form of the monotheistic faith beleive that they themselves are corrupt along with all the people in the universe. The only way to be saved from the corruption is to somehow appease Tamruud. Various sects exist that each have a differing view of this god. The general consensus among the groups, however, is that Tamruud must give you salvation, and you cannot gain it by yourself. (44% of pop.)

Kadeṡi Monotheism: Kadeṡ created the universe, and her creation became corrupted. In order to save yourself from the corruption and sinfulness of the world, you must make yourself pure and shun all things that are impure and evil. To start on this journey, you must 1) Live in the wilderness alone for 3 months 2) Take the sacred oath to bind yourself to a lifetime of purity 3) sacrifice some type of bird (CANNOT be an 'impure' bird) 4) offer burnt incense. From there, you must live your life according to purity lest you succumb to the darkness. (26% of pop.)

Polytheistic Atheism: Sometimes considered part of the Polytheistic belief. This religion centers around the fact that the 'gods' described in tales of old are actually parts of a person's mind and personality. That in order to live a good and honest life, one must be able to feed the 'good' (fire, ocean, sun) gods and defeat the 'evil' (pain, revenge, death) gods. (5% of pop.)
