Imperial Osveraali is the classical language of Atsiq and was the main administrative, cultural, diplomatic and technological lingua franca of the Osveraali Empire. It has influenced all Atsiq languages to considerable degrees and remains a source of neologisms to this day, especially in the scientific field. Imperial Osveraali is based on the Old Osveraali dialect spoken in the Usuva region around the year 1000 and underwent a process of standardisation and codification in the late 12th century, largely ceasing to be a first spoken language by the mid-13th century. Its script, the Osveraali alphabet, is used as the writing system of all modern Atsiq languages with the exception of Shyorian.
