The Solaman War, was fought from September 3rd, 1950 to June 29th, 1969. It stands as one of the longest conflicts in contemporary Vaniuan history as a result of its on-and-off fighting periods making it a frozen conflict on two separate occasions. It began with Shavakhotia's invasion of the Solaman Region following the beginning of the Second Lenezi Civil War in 1950, and resumed in 1960 with Lenezan's counteroffensive in the region following the beginning of the Shavakhotian Civil War. Although fighting officially ended in 1969 with the Treaty of X being signed, the region is still claimed in its entirety to the present day by these nations.
For most of history prior to the late 1700s, the peninsular part of Solama would be under Shavakhotian rule, while the island part of Solama would be under Lenezi rule. After the conclusion of the first Vañudeic War, the First Lenezi Empire partitioned the Enlightened Huhjunate of Shavakhotia with Soptemia and directly ruled majority of its territory, including peninsular Solama, until 1799. A regime change occurred with the re-ascension of the Taceyejirids to the Lenezi throne, leading to the emergence of the Pavo-Shavakhotian Empire which continued direct rule over Shavakhotian territory. The Pavo-Shavakhotian Empire entered into conflict with the New Shanyedate in the Pavo-Vos Coal War which ended in the former's defeat. In the following Treaty of Zotam, one of it's clauses stated that the former Pavakhotian territory of Solama, which was previously recognized under the jurisdiction of Ihana, would be handed over to the New Shanyedate for the next 75 years until it's return back to the city in 1939. The Pavo-Shavakhotian Empire collapsed in the First Lenezi Civil War, which resulted in the formation of the two new states by 1901.
