Because of its location with a lot of different types of water, Zaizung has traditionally had a lot of different parts to its shipping industry. From the earliest Mañi sources, it inherited the proa style Crab-claw sail catamaran, but kept on improving it for various uses.

Crab Claw Scow

This adaptation of the crab-claw sail catamarans of their Mañi ancestors to a flat scow hull allows them to carry more cargo up and down the rivers of Zaizung.

Malay Junk Schooner

This 2-3 masted schooner is fore-and-aft rigged with junk sails whose top two battens are arranged at an angle to act similar to a crab-claw sail, and the battens get progressively more horizontal as you go down the sail. This is similar to the Malay pinas. Because of the sail arrangement, it can quickly maneuver around the Amiyant Sea no matter what the wind bearing is, carrying cargo from the main oceanic ports to ports around the sea.

Chinese Junk

While most junks were owned and sailed by Qonks, they were frequently built in Zaizung and used Zaizung ports and crews. The junks were much bigger than other types of ships. These have 3 junk-rigged lug sail masts, fairly rectangular in shape. These are more efficient at sailing downwind on the trade winds, but are clunky in the Amiyant, and usually unload at ports in Zaizung for the schooners to distribute, in years when the political situation has not made that trade route break down.
