The Harish three part clock is a traditional timekeeping system used in the Harish language and is the main time keeping system in Tzulhon. The clock divides the day into two halves: the daytime and the night, with the daytime half being further divided into two parts: morning and afternoon. There are 6 hours in the morning part, 6 hours in the afternoon part, and 12 hours in the night part. The hours in each part are told with period-designating words or phrases, which are:

  • kezato i ... kunto for the morning part of daytime (06:00 to 11:59)
  • tompeirto i ... kunto for the afternoon part of daytime (12:00 to 17:59)
  • enzato i ... kunto for the night part (18:00 to 05:59)

It is thought that the word kun(with the definite suffix -(a)to) is of onomatopoeia origin, from the sound of a bell, since before modern era bells were used to announce the hours in public place in Tzulhon. Some people may use the word haiso ("time") in place of kun.

Each hour is further divided into 60 minutes. The definite form of the word takato ("division") is used for the meaning "minite".

In Harish Calendar, the start of the morning part(around 6 AM) is usually seen as the beginning of a day.

Expression of time in a day

To describe the time of a day, one used the form "X kunto i Y takato" with X and Y being ordinal numbers. For example:

  • tompeirto i xachaso kunto i hilzo xachazo takatato - 3:24 PM
  • kezato i neko kunto i samastar paraso takatato - 6:35 AM
  • enzato i eitoraso kunto i rimaraso takatato - 11:07 PM

For the meaing "o'clock", one uses the form "X kunto nonato", the nonato part is from the adjective nono "full". For example:

  • tompeirto i xachaso kunto nonato - 3:00 PM
  • kezato i neko kunto nonato - 6:00 AM
  • enzato i eitoraso kunto nonato - 11:00 PM
