Prehistory
Pre-Atsiq Empire
Prior to the Atsiq Empire, Kolikon was inhabited by various disparate chiefdoms and local rulers. According to folklore and oral tradition, the lands of Kolikon were subject to frequent peasant revolts and instability, with the nobility almost being overthrown in X’s War. As a result, in the 600s CE the Confederation of Kolikon would arise, a decentralized nation made to maintain and protect the power structures of the local nobility. This confederation would be lead by an elected Duchess(?), who would act as a mediator for the various noble clans. With newfound alliances between the nobility, the Confederation would go on to crush the rising tide of peasant revolts and would gradually incorporate more clans into the Confederation. Outside of oral tradition, little is known about this period in the history of Kolikon, though it is known the Confederation would continue for several hundred years. The record would remain silent until the mid 900s CE, when the Atsiq script first appeared. Recording feats of the Duchess X the Great, who would successfully defend Kolikon against a series of attacks by Empress Dānsasōlsy of the Dardanth Empire. Following a truce between the Dardanth and Kolikon, the confederation of Kolikon would fall into civil war over the succession of X the Great, as she had no heirs. The X war would last X years and would involve every major clan in Kolikon, ultimately ending with the accomplished general X taking position as Duchess and forming a more centralized state.
