The Council of Stewards of the United Balkist Republic of Milevia, commonly known as the Council of Stewards or the Stewards' Council, is the supreme unicameral legislative body of Farmosh. Its members (currently numbering 316) are elected from multi-member electoral districts for a term of seven years.
Overview
The Council is a unicameral parliament and the only body in Farmosh vested with both constituent and legislative authority.
The Council of Stewards has the power to amend the Constitution, to pass, amend, and appeal laws, to debate and approve national plans for economic development, the State budget, credit and financial programs, and to set guidelines for domestic and foreign policies. X.

The first Council of Stewards was formed from nationwide elections held in 1880, the first elections since the Shariyen Compromise between Balkist and Republican(?) factions and the ratification of the X Constitution.
1941 Constitution
Following the ratification of the 1941 Constitution spearheaded by then-Grand Steward Yekhar Ṅacraś opposition parties were banned and their representatives, along with Pashaists, were forbidden to hold a seat in the Council, effectively transforming Farmosh into a one-party Balkist state. The electoral system was reformed to make use of approval voting for candidates selected by the Milevian Liberation Front.
