Norjihan, officially The Most Serene Republic of Norjihan, is a country in the region of Southern Baredina, bordered to the west by Szezkia, to the north by Istan, and to the south by Usesimud, Bomikunud and Yaina. Norjihan's territory has an area of 587,698 km2 (226,911.47 sq. miles) and is fairly high, with the highest point being Mount Shazanosh at 3,009m, although the lowest points of Norjihan are around 10m below sea level; all of these are mainly on the border with Szezkia in the Govegzosh Plain. The population as of 2017 (estimated) is 30 million, of whom 92% are Baredan Norjihani, with 7% Baredan Istani and 1% 'Others'. The capital of Norjihan is Mahárenæc, also the largest city in Norjihan which makes up 9.7% of the entire population. The majority language is Norjihani, with small communities of other languages, mainly on the borders with other countries (however, Norjihani is encouraged greatly).

Etymology

The common name of the nation, Norjeda (/nʊʁ.jɛ.da/), specifically refers to the region around the capital, Mahárenæc, and comes from Norjedin, meaning '(The) Capital', a common nickname for the city. It is this that has become the common name, especially internationally with many nations borrowing their word for Norjihan from Norjeda.

The official Norjihani name for the nation, Áspemø (/auspɛmʏ/), is the preferred one by the Norjihani government, as Norjeda is seen as an uninclusive term, especially given the Lailaums and the Uulans both refuse to use the term due to their regional identities.
