Kauzia (Ythnandosian: kauzafui, IPA: /ku'za.βi/), officially the Republic of Kauzia, is a country located in east Baredina. Kauzia is and has been a major regional power, having the largest economy in Baredina and having previously conquered many Ekuosian countries during the reign of the Kauzic Empire.

Etymology

The term kauza dates back to the first Kauzic settlements in the Ekuos Delta, which they originally referred to as kauzas. Over time, this became used as the Kauzic demonym. In modern Kauzia, the Ythnandosian term kauzapöẓ and its cognates in related languages have come to denote someone of any of many ethnic groups in Kauzia, as opposed to an ethnic Kauzic, although its original meaning remains as well.

The origin of the term kauza is obscure, with one theory linking it to the Ydtobogan word *hāgorda "safety, shelter" (cf. Kauzasian ɣuda "safety"), but most of these theories have been deemed invalid.

History

Early History

The Kauzics first originated in what is now Izovangia, as part of the Ydtobogan societies along the Ekuos River. During the Ydtobogan Migration, the ancestors of the Kauzics migrated east along the Ekuos River over a thousand years until they reached the Ekuos Delta around 2000 BCE. Over the next thousand years, they established dominance over the various other peoples in the region, but mostly remained in the Zindo region as they had not yet unified.

Ďinaunne

By 1110 BCE, the Kauzics had unified and developed their own distinct culture. Towns had begun to develop across Zindo, especially on the coast and along the many rivers in the area. In 1102 BCE, the first Kauzic emperor, Jaem, took control of the Kauzic people and declared that all of Zindo was her dominion, naming the dominion Ďinaunne. The dominion would later undergo rapid growth and a scientific revolution over the next several hundred years.

However, the most well-known ancient emperor (argued by many to have been the best) in modern Kauzia was Garefky. Garefky came into power in 897 BCE, after which Ďinaunne entered a period of great prosperity. From 895 BCE to 876 BCE, the Kauzics began to invade the north and the east, conquering many other tribes and establishing dominance over most of modern-day Kauzia. During this period, Garefky oversaw the construction of Iru, which would become the capital of Ďinaunne, the Kauzic Empire, and modern-day Kauzia. After the conquests, Garefky sought something to help unify the many peoples in the now multiethnic dominion.
