The Alotol Confederation was an association of predominately Alotol and ethnically Rietic kingdoms, principalities, republics, and territories in the region of Soltenna. It was founded by the Regency Council of Prince Matn in 1253, following the First Belfanic Wars.
Etymology
History
Liosol experienced an age of instability following the end of the Lia dynasty leading to the period of the Twin Kingdoms in which the dynasty split, forming the Te dynasty and the Lejom dynasty. During this period, lasting from c. 963 - 1249, the two states fought for regional dominance in Liosol proper. The warring between the two houses came to a head in 1237 in the form of the Belfanic wars which were caused by the question of the Te monarchy's successor and rightful heir to the title of "Lord of Batan".
The Kingdom of Setole won the Belfanic wars, inheriting both the Court of Batan and a personal union with the Lands under the Lejom Crown. The King of Setole, Lord Bajen of Lanothi, oversaw this realm until 1252. Following his death, the regent council of Prince Matn began constructing plans for an early Alotol Confederation in order to consolidate its new territory in the west and prevent uprisings from the conquered Hetan peoples. On July 1, 1253 the regent council formed the Alotol Confederation making its principal states the Kingdom of Setole, the Kingdom of Lejom, the territory of Malas, the Principality of Tynca, and the Principality of Granas.
