Sarmai (Language: Country [saː.rmɛ]), officially the All Sarmayan Peoples' Republic, is a country located in Parshita, bordered by Azey to the south, Kaisen to the east. To the north lies the disputed territory of Zindarr, the majority of which Sarmai claims as its own territory.
Being inhabited for millennia, it was settled by Tiengic peoples around the 2nd millennium BCE, followed by more recent Kame migrations.
In the 1700s it was conquered by the Azey gunpowder empire
The country was a victim of the 1920s revolutionary wave across East Miraria, falling to Balkist rebels in 1923. Years after the revolution in 1931, when it's leader X died, the now one-party state began to plunge into instability as the party split into unofficial factions, something which was exploited by the newly established secret police's commander, X, to increase his own power. Taking advantage of the disunion amongst factions, the secret police began taking control in the shadows of more and more factions, with practically the entire country being under their control by the 1940s, the party becoming unofficially a puppet and the premier a mere figurehead, all decisions were made by the secret service's inner circle. This state of affairs went mostly unchallenged until the 1970s, after the death of X which had caused chaos amongst the service. In 1984, the first presidential elections without influence from the service were held, where X, the main leader of the party recistance against it, was elected. The regime survived the anti-Balkist waves that hit other countries like Juhashka, and nowadays remains one of the 2 officially Balkist countries, along with Farmosh
