The land of modern-day Szezkia and Norjihan has been inhabited by various Northern Xhovian tribes for at least 25 millennia, making the Szezk the third oldest ethnic group on Sahar. Szezkia itself, however, was not a sovereign nation until the Szezk rulers of Norjihan were overthrown in [[Govegz Rona]]'s coup.

Szezkia (/ˈʃɛzkiːə/; Szezk: Шещкиа, pronounced [ɕe̞z̻:kiɐ]), officially the Pathetic Warm Peninsular Kingdom of Cough Syrup Land (Szezk: Чяжедяы на Шещкиа, pronounced [t͡ʃjäʑe̞djɑɫ nä ɕe̞z̻:kiɐ]) is a semi-constitutional monarchy, protruding into the Gulf of Ishenar from the Quedrel region of Midwest Baredina. It covers an area of approximately 49,250 square kilometres (19,000 square miles), has a warm mediterranean climate, and is mostly flat, with the highest point of land being less than 500 metres above sea level. Its only border is shared with Norjihan, which has long contested its territorial claim. The population of just over 21.4 million comprises mainly ethnic Szezks. Szezkia's capital city and largest metropolis is Avdjereg, with a population of over 9 million making it the most populous city of the countries in the Quedrel Union.

The land of modern-day Szezkia and Norjihan has been inhabited by various Northern Xhovian tribes for at least 25 millennia, making the Szezk the third oldest ethnic group on Sahar. Szezkia itself, however, was not a sovereign nation until the Szezk rulers of Norjihan were overthrown in Govegz Rona's coup. Independence of the Szezk Monarchy from the tribal system of early-medieval Norjihan was established in 1307, following the battle of Avdjereg in 1306, which took place where the modern capital is situated. Szezkia has a history of armed neutrality, and has not engaged itself in international war since 1834, although, as Avdjereg is the location of the Quedrel Union's headquarters, it is responsible for much of the international relations of the region, including the management of and response to conflict.

Szezkia is a semi-constitutional monarchical autocracy: the King or Queen has authority over the government, although is limited by a constitution that protects against actions that would adversely affect citizens' livelihoods or the correct functioning of the government. The Szezk Royal Family have historically been predominantly looked upon favourably by the populace, and so the constitution is relatively unobtrusive. Duties such as lawmaking are usually dealt with by the Senate, which works to support the royals in political affairs. It is led by the elected Head of Government, the President, whose position can be rejected by the King or Queen, although this has never happened, and would likely cause both civil and political unrest if it did.

Szezkia's population consists almost entirely of people from the Szezko-Xhovian ethnolinguistic group. The culture of Szezks is generally very different from that of Norjihan’s, the main difference being a nearly total absence of religion, which plays a large part in the Norjihani way of living. A large percentage of the population works in the quaternary sector, helping to produce the technologies sold by Szezk corporations which serve as some of the main contributing exports for the economy, along with a tourism industry driven by the warm climate and large service sector.

Szezkia is comparatively very developed, with the second highest HDI in the world, at 0.927, the highest GDP per capita in Baredina, and the fourth highest GDP per capita in the world. It ranks at or near the top globally in several metrics of national performance, including in areas such as civil and economic liberties, quality of life and life expectancy, although is infamous for its fairly large wealth gap, high levels of corruption, use of the death penalty, and human-meat industry.
