Broke away from [[Sanmra]] aaaaages ago, yet everybody's still pissed about it.
In the year -3000 or -4000 or something really long ago, a large number of dalar ended up emigrating from Alpa to Southern Miraria. They were nomadic fishermen and sailors, and over the next few thousand years, migrated west and ended up in Boroso. They mostly settled in the area of modern-day Tuanmali. Some dalar remained on the coast, founding settlements there and continuing to do stuff with boats, while others moved inland and possibly continued to be nomadic, but without boats this time. It was sparsely inhabited, so the dalar were able to spread throughout the area over the next few centuries.

The area was dominated by the Bavkirs, although Wīcos was able to maintain partial independence, and was eventually named the Grand Duchy of the Free City of Wīcos. Wīcos, a valuable port, quickly became the center of dalar civilization in Boroso.

When the Bavkir Empire collapsed in the mid-1700s, its former holdings fell into chaos. Wīcos took advantage of the situation to consolidate the dalar-dominated areas along the coast, then moved inland, uniting various groups of dalar under the banner of common species (and possibly language/some culture). This formed the basis for the modern Tuanmali nation.

A very squabbly democracy. There's either a million political parties or they're sort-of-but-not-really outlawed; either way, it's coalitions and voting blocs all over the place. A prime minister, Kitse Dzene, theoretically runs the place. There's also a president, Nebāb Cumiz, probably. Quite liberal, compared to Sanmra.

Fairly isolationist; they're not overly fond of humans even if they'll happily take their money. Closely tied to Sanmra, even if everyone wants to pretend they only hate each other.

Tuanmali (IPA: /tua̯n.ˈma.li/), officially the Independent Union of Tuanmali Republics, is a country located on the northeast coast of Boroso, bordered to the east by the Taanttu Gulf. It is the largest of the two nations dominated by the dalar species, the other being Sanmra.

Etymology

History

Demographics

Tuanmali is dominated by the dalar, who make up 97%??? of the population. Approximately 650,000 Kavs, 49,000 Astalvi, 200,000 humans <probably more than this, tbh>, and ??? Fals also live in Tuanmali. If any Vodholk live there, they are keeping a very low profile, presumably because they're dying of heatstroke.

Ethnic groups

The dalar in Tuanmali are primarily of the Tuanmali panethnic group. About a third of the population are ethnically Tuanmalis, a quarter are Lorhan, and a sixth are Uunen. The other quarter of the population is made up of other, smaller groups, including some Sanmra.

Most humans in Sanmra are of Borosan heritage, mostly from Bavkirak.
