Tullachia (Tullach: tulakiw tulaciû [ˈtu.la.kɪʍ]), officially the Tullach Chieftaincies, is a country located in Ystel. It is bordered by Thraquy, Ancorub and Hranloc to the east and Gabolonia, Stratavar, Upper Stratavar and Lower Stratavar to the south. The nation enjoys a varied terrain, ranging from the mountainous hinterland on its southern borders to the temperate hot-summer Asuran coastline and fertile plains southwestwardly.

Tullachia was once the political centre of the Tullach Chieftaincies, additionally covering most of the Rocnaian- and Stratavite-speaking territories of Ystel.

In 2024, after decades of civil and political pressure, the Tullachian government issued the Dissolution Act, allowing any prospective regional council to transition into statehood with Tullachia's support. As a result, eight new nations were created: Thraquy, Rocnaia, Ancorub, Varencub, Hranloc, Gabolonia, Stratavar, and, most contentiously, Upper Stratavar, which still does not have full international recognition. The breakup of the Tullach Chieftaincies initially resulted in a suspension from the Ystelian Community and the Asuran Economic International Oceanic Union, however after proving a stabilisation of economic unrest and a quashing of interethnic tensions, Tullachia, alongside its new sister nations, were (re-)admitted to these organisations.

In addition to its main territory, Tullach shares the ports of Cnins and Sercns with Thraquy, out of fear that the removal of the country's two largest ports would bring the national economy into ruin. Tullachia has since hastily began the construction of larger ports in Hracciû and Riû tCalmatun. Due to Rocnaia's claims over Thraquy's entire territory, amongst other areas, these two towns are thus, de jure, the only three-way claims in Sahar.

Etymology

Scholars widely accept that the term Tullach is ultimately sourced form the Proto-Ystelic ? (cherry; berry) and ? (marsh, swamp; coast). The presence of bird cherry plants seems to have served as a key identifier of the region, or at least of Ystel's northeastern coast.

Tullachia is divided into 22 political subdivisions: 21 regions with 1 special administatrive district, the Free Ports of Cnins and Sercns under condominium with Thraquy, also claimed by Rocnaia. The borders of these regions typically follow those of the historical clans who occupied the area. After the breakup of the former Tullach Chieftaincies, all remaining subdivisions use Tullach in official administration.

Foreign relations

Having been submitted as a member of the Ystelian Community and the Asuran Economic International Oceanic Union on 1st July 2003, with only a short temporary suspension put in place during the fracture of the Tullach Chieftaincies in early 2024, Tullachia maintains healthy diplomatic relations with all Ystelian nations.

Economy

The official currency of Tullachia is the sou (Tullach: sow [sou̯]; pl: sova sova; sign: °; code: TSW). The Bank of Tullachia, whose headquarters lie in Hracciû, is the central bank and the issuing authority.

The reverse of sou coins and banknotes exhibit a range of native Tullachian, Rocnaian and Stratavite wildlife, both aquatic and land-based.

Some Tullach nationalists have called for the removal of Rocnaian and Stratavite imagery on sou banknotes. However, it has been affirmed that, due to their use of the sou, Tullachia shan't seek to exclude their presence from the note designs.

The current flag of Tullachia was adopted on 1st March 1983 amidst nationwide efforts to modernise the country's international image. Previously, Tullachia used the state emblem on a white field. Although the state emblem is still in partial use today, it was argued that its appearance on the national flag refer too heavily to the nation's monarchical era. It was redesigned by Ønsprivian-born designer Isár ot'Acca, who stated that he wished that the nation would place more emphasis on Tullachia's natural elements.

His design makes use of the national plant, the bird-cherry tree, with a white flower with rose-tinted highlights. Designer ot'Acca stated that the composition of the bird-cherry flower also made reference to the geographical shape of the country at the time. This claim is supported by the five bezants to its dexter, each one representing one of the islands off the country's east coast: Inil t:Cilna, Inil Hrasca, Inil Mucca, Inil Hragûa and Sérnzinil.

According the Tullachian government web page, the sea-green field is representative of Tullachia's nature, and thus fertility and resourcefulness. Its blue-ish tinge however links back to the importance of water travel in the nation's (primarily early) history. The five golden roundels symbolise monetary wealth, purity and religious righteousness.

The flag's colours are specified and codified under the 1983 Flag Act, which saw the design first be officially encoded into Tullachia's national identity. The official colours and their approximations in other colour spaces are listed below:
